Rewire TMS Clinics was founded by Dr Stastny in 2021.

Dr Stastny is a psychiatrist passionate about helping patients recover from the rigors of mental illness. She grew increasingly frustrated that there is a safe, effective treatment for depression, but which was not available in Cape Town.

TMS is a cutting-edge technology, offering new hope to patients for whom medication isn’t effective. With this in mind she founded Cape Town’s first TMS clinic.

Dr Stastny trained as a doctor at the University of Pretoria, a psychiatrist at the University of Cape Town and got her TMS accreditation from Monash University. She served at the poorest clinics in Africa and worked in cutting edge European hospitals. For the last decade she has practiced from the leafy suburb of Constantia.

Aslam Barends

Aslam is Rewire TMS Clinics’ operations manager and the nuts and bolts of our clinic.

He loves clinical work and will often step into a technician’s role. He is a registered counsellor with ASCHP.

Aslam obtained his TMS accreditation from Maastrecht University.

Juanita Johannes

Juanita’s love for promoting mental health has earned her a bachelor’s in psychology and a registration with ASCHP as a counsellor.

She has helped design school programmes for at risk children and now brings her empathetic touch to Rewire TMS Clinics.

Sasha Mazonde

Sasha has her Masters in Clinical Pharmacy.

Her passion for promoting individualised patient care and advancing science has made her the obvious choice for our Cat’s Corner TMS technician and research assistant.

Dr Michael Ferreirinha

Dr Ferreirinha has joined us at Cat’s Corner, bringing his Kindmind clinic with him.

He is particularly interested in improving access to neuromodulation therapies and believes in patients being active participants in their healing journey “Care grounded in genuine human connection is not only authentic, but also more effective and meaningful” .
